Plant Hire Executive (PHE) is edited by Nick Johnson who
is the most experienced Editor in UK construction
plant journalism.
His passionate interest in construction equipment stems from
childhood and he joined the plant industry in 1970. After gaining
an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering he became
a plant advisory engineer with John Laing Construction.

He has been editing a monthly plant magazine
since 1981. Now one of the few Plant Magazine
Editors able to operate machines, he provides
authoritative in-depth appraisals and objective
reviews of new products.

Underlining the importance of transport to plant hire companies, PHE has its own Transport Editor, Malcolm Bates. Having originally worked for manufacturers of trucks, vehicle bodywork and forklifts in the 1970s, he is well qualified to test and report on transport and related products. Keen to promote new concepts, he also imparts his specialist knowledge of groundscare equipment and tool carriers to PHE readers.

Don Baldry is PHE’s well liked ‘Travelling Man’ columnist. His eloquent writing style combines humour with the ability to make serious comment. He has both operated machines and worked in supervisory positions with plant companies since 1950 and is an acknowledged expert in materials handling.

	PHE’s Financial Contributor, Catherine Stratton is probably the most respected financial analyst reporting on the plant hire industry. As well as writing in-depth financially orientated management articles and the quarterly financial updates for PHE, she produces the renowned annual Plant Hire Investment Report.

Adding to the wealth of industry experience at PHE is Advertisement Manager, David Holmes. He has been selling space for construction publications since 1978 and so is well placed to advise you on how to effectively promote plant and equipment.

Altogether the current PHE team has a total of 175 years of relevant industry knowledge. And they have worked together since before the inception of PHE in October 1987.
